The romantic Black Stars call ups!

The Black Stars is actually a place where footballers live their dream. It is the aim of every footballer to play for his national team. It is also a place where individual players showcase their talent to help rocket their value on the transfer market.

The call – ups to the Black Stars are always done with the assumption that those called are the best and ready to compete for places. It is practicable that players called should be able to offer the team quality, but rather, not all called are able to offer that.

There is this trend that squads that are usually named do have certain individuals who tend to just come in to make the numbers. The players do come in and do play less or no role at all. It is so amazing that such caliber of players tend to gain subsequent call – ups.

It is so amazing that a player may be a regular starter at his club in the Serie A or EPL but may always go unnoticed for another player who sits on the bench for a club in the Serie A or EPL. These ‘inferior players’ come and go whilst other characters are impressing at their clubs.

Every coach has his philosophy but it should not border on a choice of calling up fringe players to only come to have a romantic stance with the Black Stars. Such act of calling these ‘romantic players’ is an avenue for the starters to survive with no competition for places.

Some of the regular stars who play in certain positions do not get stretched for a starting place because there is no competition. It is always the same squad and those who are called in are not usually of competitive stand but just to have a romance with the Black Stars.

Bearing in mind, the non-malicious nature of this piece, it is also to suggest that the romantic call ups might come to back to hit the team in the long run and that there should be a policy to create room for all. No call up can be fair but a consistent trend of having certain players only coming for a romance with the Black Stars must be a thing of the past!
