Peace FM Sports Editor and owner/editor of the Ghana Sports newspaper, Dan Kweku Yeboah has indicated that the height of corruption is at its peak in the Ghanaian football industry.
“In Ghana corruption is everywhere but there are too scandals are too many in the Ghana FA,” he said.
Mr. Yeboah comment follows the recent call for Kwesi Nyantakyi’s arrest by the President after being privy to investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ Number 12 undercover documentary which exposed the GFA President allegedly using the name of the President to defraud some investors.
Speaking about the scandal, Mr Dan Yeboah told Ghanaweb’s Editor Daniel Oduro that the manner in which issues of corruption are handled in the country is bad. He added that the structuring of the Premier League Board also has a problem.
"I have a problem with the way our PLB(Premier League Board) is structured, then the Football Association itself the way they handle issues with respect to corruption.”
Kweku Yeboah who is an anti-corruption campaigner said that the corruption extends to even the referees who take bribes to compromise the fairness of the game.
“It is only in Ghana where a referee will take bribe, put it in his socks, officiate a game afterwards, the evidence was so clear.”
The Ace sports journalist therefore called for a reform in the Ghana Football Association as scandals are usually forgotten over time.
“I think that Anas has given us the brightest of opportunities to call for reform,” He said.
