Ghanaians on social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), are heartbroken upon learning that Black Stars winger Fatawu Issahaku has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
Many expressed sympathy for the youngster, who has been in excellent form for Leicester City in the Premier League, wishing him a speedy recovery. Others voiced concerns about how the injury might impact his development.
Meanwhile, a few others argue that the injury could have been avoided if he had rejected the call-up.
Issahaku sustained the knee injury during Ghana's 1-1 draw against Angola, playing only the first half of the match.
The 19-year-old will be sidelined for six to nine months after undergoing a successful surgery. As a result, will miss the remainder of the 2024/2025 season.
Issahaku started the season strong, leading the Premier League in dribbles completed with 29. But his campaign ended abruptly, with him playing just 11 games.
His final game for Leicester this season came in a 3-0 loss to Manchester United, where he completed a remarkable 12 dribbles.

I honestly don't know why he came to play those two dead rubber games.

When their clubs are protecting them, we question their commitment to their national teams. Meanwhile if they get injured it's the club that suffers the most

Someone who relies on tricks, quick turns & pace never is, they also tend to pick up more secondary injuries
We now don't just need cover for this season, but we sadly need a permanent replacement *if* we're a PL team
Fatawu ACL injury let’s just call the season off now

Another ACL injury. After a brilliant season last year in Championship for Leicester City under Maresca helping them promote to PL, got signed permanently from Sporting but hasn't really hit those heights and now he's out for the rest of the season. Feel bad for Abdul Fatawu https://t.co/BLjGeF091z
