Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has expressed his delight over Atletico Madrid 4-1 thumping over FC Copenhagen in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League round of 32 stage at the Telia Parken on Thursday evening.
The Rojiblancos, who are making their first appearance in the UEFA second-tier club competition since winning the competition in the 2011/12 season, were dealt an early blow as former Ajax Amsterdam striker Viktor Fischer put the hosts ahead on the 15th minute mark.
But two quick strikes from Saul Niguez and Kevin Gameiro in the 21st and 37th respective minutes handed the Spanish giants the lead before the half time time whistle.
An Antoine Greizmann's 71st minute goal put the game beyond Stale Solbakken's men before Victor Vitolo sealed a comfortable 4-1 victory for the visitors.
And Partey, who enjoyed full minutes of action for the Madrid-based side, took to twitter to express his joy over their performance but more especially the win they recorded in Denmark.
The return is due to come off at the Wanda Metropolitano on Thursday, February 22.
