Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey is a yellow card away from suspension ahead of the upcoming Madrid derby against city rivals Real Madrid.
Partey, who has been impressive for the Rojiblanco in the ongoing campaign, received his fourth booking against Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium last month.
The 25-year-old is walking on a suspension tightrope ahead of the side's match against Real Betis on Sunday.
He will be ruled out from the much-anticipated El Derbi against city rivals Real Madrid should he pick a booking in their game at the Benito VillamarĂn Stadium.
Partey could be joined in the stands by captain Diego Godin who has also collected four bookings this season but the Uruguayan is racing against time to be fit for the weekend game against Real Betis after being substituted at half time in the 2-0 win over Getafe on Saturday.
Atlético Madrid have rediscovered their mojo in recent weeks after their slow start to the campaign, picking four wins and drawing once in their last five games to move to 2nd on the standings.
