Ghanaian Telecommunication company, Tigo have denied going into sponsorship agreement with Ghana premier league side, Techiman City FC.
Ghanaweb Sports in an interview with the Corporate Communications Director for Tigo, Gifty Bingley can confirm that there are no such plans to sponsor the football club.
“Presently, we don’t have any plans of sponsoring any football club,” she said.
Officials of the third largest telecommunication company in Ghana, visited the training grounds of the team as they begin talks to become the headline sponsors of the newly-promoted side who have dominated the headlines in the 2016 Ghanaian league season.
Tigo have not made any financial commitment to the club whose President Charles Kwadwo Ntim was present at the meeting.
Techiman City sealed a whopping US$50000 sponsorship deal with pharmaceutical giants, Samara Company Limited in mid-February.
With the Ghana FA yet to officially announce a new headline sponsor for the league, following the withdrawal of First Capital Plus Bank, clubs have been edged to position themselves to attract individual sponsors.
