To be honest, I am really disappointed - Otto Addo after Niger 1-1 Ghana match

Ghana head coach Otto Addo has expressed his disappointment in his team's failure to beat Niger in their 2025 AFCON qualifiers on Monday.

The Black Stars were held by Niger in a 1-1 encounter in Bamako, picking up one point in the process.

An unhappy Otto Addo criticized his team's lapses in the game.

"Definitely not; I am not satisfied at all. I am really disappointed, to be honest. We talked, and we trained on set pieces… and the way they defended in the last 10 minutes was really, really bad.

"I think, in general, we had the game under control. We sometimes allowed some counter situations where we didn't close the gaps really well, and then we got the lead. I think from that point things were easier," he noted.

"In the second half, we changed some positions and the buildup, and also made some adjustments to seize moments for our wingers. We had a different setup in the midfield, so it was good.

"In the second half, we controlled them; we created a lot of chances, which we didn't use. In the end, these kinds of games are like this. There are no easy teams; every team can play, and Niger also did well, especially in their counterattacks. But I am very, very disappointed with the way we conceded our goal," he said.

The Black Stars and Niger currently share the 3rd and 4th places, respectively, in Group F, with Angola leading and Sudan in 2nd place.

Ghana's next game is a home-and-away fixture against Sudan in October.
