Toku, Danlad missing from coach Fabin's World Cup squad

Twenty-five under-17 players have been invited to the Black Starlets’ camp to begin preparation towards this year’s FIFA Under-17 World Championship in India from October 6 to 28.

Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin’s latest call-up has 12 new players with most of the squad that played at the African Championship in Gabon last May, and who helped the team qualify for the World Cup, missing.

Goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim, Najeeb Yakubu and forward, Emmanuel Toku are not part of the players expected to report for camping at the Prampram Ghanaman Centre of Soccer Excellence today.

The list of 25 is heavily dominated by academy players with WAFA and Right To Dream topping.

The Starlets will be hoping to conquer the World as one of Africa’s four participating teams, having finished runners-up to eventual winners Mali in the recently held Africa U-17 Cup of Nations in Gabon.

Ghana will join Mali, Guinea and Niger as representatives of Africa as they compete for honours at the World stage against other participants from other continents.

Goalkeepers: Michael Acquaye (WAFA), Stephen Sarkodie (Right to Dream), Kwame Aziz (Mandela Soccer Academy).

Defenders: Francis Boateng, Inusa Adama (both of WAFA), John Otu (Still Believe), Bismark Terry Owusu (Mandela Soccer Academy), Gideon Acquah (Bofoakwa), Gideon Mensah and (Right To Dream)

Midfielders: Isaac Antah (Accra Young Wise), Francis Abu (Right To Dream), Ibrahim Siddick (Right To Dream), Jamal Haruna (WAFA), Rudolph Blagogee (FC Mamobi) and Mohammed Iddriss (Cheetah FC).

Forwards: Eric Ayiah (Charity Stars), Sulley Ibrahim (New Life FC), Kwadwo Poku (Attram D’vissier Academy), Samuel Mone Andoh (Zein FC), Nathaniel Opoku Onyina (Sporting Club), Mohammed Aminu (WAFA), and Kelvin Owusu (Right To Dream).
