Top Ghanaian cyclists clash at Prampram

Accra, Aug. 13, GNA - Top Ghanaian cyclists including members of the national team are expected to thrill the chiefs and people of Prampram with immaculate cycling prowess in a special Homowo Cup Race on Saturday, August 21.

The event, which is at the instance of the Greater Accra Cycling Association under the auspices of the Ghana cycling Association (GCA) would be sponsored by Pens and Plastics Ghana Limited.

The competition, dubbed BIC Homowo Cycling Races would be competed in by some 16 clubs across the country likely to be dominated by the seven clubs from the Greater Accra Region.

For the first time in the annual event, cyclists from Kumasi and Koforidua would be contesting for honours along side familiar faces like Richard Mawuko, Ayitey Akoto, Emmanuel Wayo, Prosper Agbo and skipper Joseph Annan.

According to Mr Shaban Mohammed, a spokesman for the GCA, the competition would also offer fans the rare opportunity of seeing the stuff the national team cyclists are made of.

John Zormelo, SWAG Cyclist of the year who unfortunately could not make the final squad of the national team for the just-ended La Route de L'est in Ivory Coast, would be a tough customer for his colleagues. At stake would be trophies, cash prizes and some products from the sponsors, BIC.
