Joy Sports' assiduous Benedict Owusu Dankwah has been awarded the 2017 Sports journalist of the year for the documentary on "Skirts on the pitch" at the 22nd Ghana Journalists Association awards.
Dankwah's documentary looked about how women’s football started in Ghana and the struggle and frustration girls go through playing football in this country.
He clinched the award two years ago with top piece Age cheating in football.
And emerged the best last year with his story on juju (Black Magic) in football before claiming it again this year with his Skirts on the pitch (documentary on women in football).
It was the third gong clinched by the budding journalist and he's the first person to win the award three consecutive times.
Many revelations and mind boggling conclusions were derived from his piece and we look forward to more compelling stories from the reigning sports journalist of the year.
Dankwah’s love to probe for human centered stories and as well many back stories aside what is seen on the pitch has made him a unique face in sports journalism in Ghana.
Ghana's leading football website Ghanasoccernet.com acknowledges Benedict Owusu Dankwah.
