The Brands Manager of Indomie Instant Noodles, Shine Akiem Torsoo has called on public sports organizing groups and associations to develop comprehensive strategies to attract sponsorship for sports disciplines.
According to him, this is to ensure that the usual complaints that the country is unable to participate in various competitions effectively as a result of inadequate funding becomes a thing of the past.
He made this call when his outfit presented a sponsorship package to the Ghanaian contingent for the All African Games in Congo Brazzaville next month.
Ghana’s participation in the games has been fraught with financial challenges with fears that the team might not be able to raise enough funds to take part in the gathering.
Torsoo said with a proper strategy, the various sports associations could raise enough money to run their programmes successfully. He said examples abound in other countries and called for a second look at how sponsorship is sought.
"A number of sports associations have failed to raise the required sponsorship and sometimes blame corporate organisations for not doing enough to support them, but every corporate organization will be happy to associate itself with a very good cause when it is attractive.
‘‘With a very comprehensive strategy, these associations can have a plan to eventually become attractive and secure long term sponsorship. Associations must approach sports differently and move away from the current regime and I believe Ghana has the human resource skilled in sports marketing who can be hired to lead the charge’’.
He affirmed his outfit’s commitment to support a worthy cause and wished team Ghana.
Indomie Instant Noodles, the official food sponsor of the team, has supported the contingent with cash and products.
