Toure's derby double sends Kotoko top

Ahmed Toure scored a brace within five minutes on Sunday in Asante Kotoko’s 3-2 derby victory over Bechem United that put them top of the Glo Premier League table.

Kotoko took the lead at the Baba Yara Stadium through Nathaniel Asamoah which was cancelled out by Peter Ofori-Quaye for Bechem.

The premiership new boys jumped in front when Akwesi Adu scored their second goal. With Kotoko on the backfoot, it was Toure who came to their rescue, grabbing the equaliser in the 71st minute before giving his side the winner in the 75 minute.

New Edubiase's impressive start to the season was halted at the Robert Mensah Stadium where they lost 2-1 to Berekum Arsenal.

James Boadu and Enoch Asare scored for the Gunners while Emmanuel Baffour got a consolation for Edubiase, his fifth goal of the three-week old league.

AshantiGold managed to beat Wa All Stars 2-1 at the Len Clay Stadium courtesy an Aaron Amoah brace while substitute Alex Tawiah pulled one back for the visitors.

After two defeats, Medeama finally ended their anxious wait for their first win and it came at the Sekondi Sports Stadium where they beat Liberty Professionals 2-0.

Ekow Benson and Kobina Edusei scored a goal apiece to ease the pressure within the ranks of the Tarkwa side.

Daniel Gozah's second half header handed Aduana Stars a 1-0 away win over Tema Youth at the Tema Park.

An own goal by Prosper Avor dashed Heart of Lions' hopes of picking all three points at the Kpando Park where they drew 1-1 with Ebusua Dwarfs.

Lions took the lead through Gilbert Fiamenyo who connected from close range past goalkeeper Adade Foli in the 30th minute. But 12 minutes later, Dwarfs were level after Avor turned in a shot across the face of goal.

On Saturday, Mighty Jets defeated Wassaman 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium with Abubakar Sidi scoring the match winner.
