Ghanaian football fans have urged the government of Ghana to call the bluff of world football governing body, FIFA, and relentlessly pursue its agenda of dissolving the corrupt GFA, even if that will attract a FIFA ban from all international football activities.
FIFA on Tuesday wrote to the government of Ghana, ordering it to discontinue the court process that will see the assets of the GFA liquidated in the wake of the Anas Aremeyaw exposé into the corrupt practices of the then Nyantakyi-led GFA.
According to FIFA the decision of government to go to court and initiate a process to dissolve the GFA is seen as undue governmental interference and contravenes the rules and regulations of FIFA.
However, most of the Ghanaians who interacted with Ghanaweb TV remain unperturbed about FIFA’s threat to suspend Ghana from all international football activities if government does not back down before 27th August 2018.
Despite the warning from FIFA, some Ghanaians who spoke to Ghanaweb TV have advised government not to heed to FIFA’s threat but to go ahead and dissolve the GFA, its Executive Committee and find the best solution which will not put the name of the country nor the game into disrepute.
However, a few passionate fans want government to halt court proceedings and allow “untainted officials” of the GFA to take control and reform the association.
