Tribute to The Late Allhassan Nassamu

Popularly Known in Soccer circles as TANKO.

The first player from the northern region to play for the Ghana National Team The Black Stars

Tanko is the very first player from the Northern region to move to play soccer in The south, first with Kumasi Highlanders and then the Great Ashantis before moving on to be the very first to play for Accra Hearts of oaks before any one thought about playing for any team in the south, with names like Abukari Gariba, Osman Orlando, Malik Jabir & Salami Akuse with Asante kotoko, George Allhasan & Amusah Gbadamoshi for Hearts, Ali Allhasan & Nkansah Abeyiyie for (OOC) Real Republicans and the list goes on & on.

Tanko is also the very first player from the North to play for the National team the Black Stars with players like CK Gyamfi, Aggrey Fynn, Edward Ackwa, Baba Yara, Mohammed Salisu, Dogo Moro, Kwaw Baffoe, Adu Darku- etc, etc.

So it will only be fitting for the Nation to name the newly constructed stadium in Tamale: TANKO memorial stadium in honor of him for not just being the pioneer of all the great soccer players to emerge from the great Northern region of Ghana but also one of the first coaches of the only premier division team in northern region RTU (Real Tamale United) We have Baba Yara stadium in Kumasi, Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape Coast, why not Tanko memorial stadium in Tamale.

You all think about that.
