The Black Queens have arrived in the country after their triumph over host nation Ivory Coast in the 2018 WAFU Women's Championship.

The team, led by Madam Leanier Addy, touched down at the Kotoka International Airport on Sunday evening to a rousing welcome by Ghanaian football fans.

Janet Egyir scored the only goal of the final game against Ivory Coast which ensured the Queens win the cup.

This is the second major trophy for the senior women’s team after having won the All Africa Games in 2015.

Aside the trophy, the Queens returned home with other honours as Egyir was adjudged the Best Player of the competition, while captain Portia Boakye won the Top Scorer's prize with four goals and three assists.

The victory also resulted in Interim Coach Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo becoming the first ever Ghanaian female Coach to win a trophy.

The team is expected to visit the Flag Staff House to present the trophy to his excellency the President, Nana Akufo Addo.
