David Duncan will hope to end his trophy-drought as a coach as his Kotoko side battle Medeama in the FA Cup final on August 30.

The former Hearts trainer has been taunted for not winning a caricature of a title despite his much-talked pedigree in Ghana.

The 51-year-old has a unique opportunity to silence his critics and write his name in his history folklore ahead of the hugely-anticipated final between the two sides.

The Essipong stadium, venue for the match, is a familiar territory for the tough-talking coach after he led Hasaacas during the 2003/4 season where he never lost a match at the venue.

The ex-Free State Stars coach is relishing the opportunity of ending the hoodoo that has characterized his trophyless career.

“It’s a mammoth game for us and we look forward to it. I hope speaking first will not ascribe to the proverbial saying that he who laughs last laughs best. But it will go like the early bed catches the worm,” he said

“We want to win and we’ll work hard at achieving our target. The FA is within of reach of grabbing it and we’ll work hard to grab it.

“Of course it’s not going to be easy. The road has been tough but I believe we can surmount the challenges.”

Pressure seems to have eased on the coach after the side’s unflattering campaign since he took over from Mas-Ud Dramani at Kotoko.

Three wins and a draw in their last four games has helped to catapult them to 6th on the table with three games to end the season.
