Senegal danger man, Sadio Mané has admitted that Tunisia gave his side a difficult match in the semi-finals of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The two teams locked horns at the 30 June Stadium on Sunday evening to fight for a spot on the finals of this year’s continental showdown.

Nothing separated the sides at the end of a pulsating 90 minutes and they were pushed into extra time where Senegal emerged as 1-0 winners courtesy an own goal from defender Dylan Bronn.

Speaking in a post-match interview, Sadio Mané shared that it was a very difficult match with a tough opponent. Nonetheless, they were not surprised because they believe they will have to beat the best teams if they want to lift the trophy at the end of the tournament.

“It was a really difficult game but we expected that because if you are in a tournament, you want to win it so you have to expect this kind of game. It was not a surprise to us. We just try to stay like a team and we don’t give up”, the Liverpool attacker noted.

He added, “This kind of competition you need to be a little bit lucky and for sure we have been a little bit lucky and we are very happy and very proud to have won this game”.

Senegal is expected to come up against an even more difficult opponent in Algeria who also defeated Nigeria in the other semi-finals match to secure a spot in the finals.

That cracking clash will be played at the Cairo International Stadium on Friday, July 19, 2019.
