Twente end Ransford Osei stay

Dutch champions FC Twente have decided not to hand a permanent contract to Ghanaian striker Ransford Osei.

The 20-year-old joined the club at the start of last season on loan from Israeli club Maccabi Haifa.

But after one term the Ghana youth international goal poacher failed to play in a senior game which prompted the decision to end his stay.

They had an option to extend his contract but Twente decided against the deal especially when coach Steve McClaren, who signed the player quit the club.

“I will return to my mother club Maccabi Haifa as the news you have heard is true,” Osei told Ghanasoccernet on Thursday night on a KLM flight heading for Spain.

Even though he refused to disclose who his mission in Spain is, it is suspected that he could be in talks with a club in the La Liga.

McClaren quit the post to join German side Wolfsburg and the arrival of new Twente boss Michel Preud’homme has brought a new era at the Dutch club.

Osei was a member of Ghana’s U20 World Cup winning squad last year and is a potential world class striker.
