Two members of Kotoko's IMT resign

Kumasi, Jan 9, GNA - Mr Yaw Gyasi, Director of Operations of Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh, Deputy Director of Operations have announced their resignation from the Interim Management Team (IMT). They said their resignation follows the apathy of the Board towards the IMT since their appointment last year.

"The Board has done very little since our appointment to enhance the financial base of the club", Mr Gyasi told the press in Kumasi on Monday.

He added that, "We have no other choice but to lay down our tools so as to avoid further confrontations amongst us". The GNA Sports gathered that the Board and IMT members, especially Mr Gyasi and Mr Ponkoh have been on collision course in recent times with the two accusing the Board of doing very little to source funds to run the Club.

Mr Gyasi pointed out that Kotoko stood the chance of losing some key players as a result of the intended recruitment this year due to the refusal of the Board to provide money to the IMT for that purpose. "We have on several occasions held discussions with them to know our predicament but they have turned a deaf ear to our pleas", he charged. Mr Gyasi said he fails to understand why the Finance Committee of the Board, which stood solidly behind Major Yaw Larson's administration, was not being supportive of the IMT.

Mr Ponkoh whose resignation is the second in less than four months since joining the IMT, said despite their resignation they would still remain staunch supporters of the Club.

Confirming the resignations of the two, Alhaji Salif Abubakari (Alhaji Nje), Chairman of the IMT said the Board respect the decision of the aggrieved members.

"We will, however, prevail upon them to change their decisions before the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II meets the Board for the second time on February 15".
