U-20 WC: Ghana Through To Semi Finals

.... meets Hungary in semis
Dominic Adiyiah scored twice Friday to lead Ghana to a 3-2 win over South Korea and a place in the semifinals of the Under-20 World Cup. Ghana led 2-0 inside the first 30 minutes after a goal each from its strike pairing of Adiyiah and Ransford Osei, who have 10 goals between them at the tournament.

However, Ghana relaxed after their second goal, and South Korea punished some poor defending when Park Hee-seong headed in a cross from the right in the 31st minute.

But Adiyiah took his tournament total to six goals with a brilliant solo run and finish in the 78th minute, before Kim Dong-sub headed another goal for South Korea in the 82nd.

The Satellites will now play either Hungary in the semis.

Ghana took the lead in the eighth minute when Samuel Inkoom sprinted down the right and crossed for Adiyiah to tap home.

Ghana's next goal came on the opposite flank in the 28th, with David Addy finding space down the left and picking out Ransford Osei at the near post.

South Korea's noisy contingent of fans numbered 300 and gave constant support at Mubarak stadium. South Korea should have taken an early lead, but Kim Young-gwon sliced his shot wide when unmarked in the penalty area.

Ghana also had chances to add to its lead in the first half, with captain Andre Ayew twice dragging his shot wide.

Park missed a chance to equalize in the 65th and, with South Korea pushing up in numbers, Ghana managed to get the ball to Adiyiah on the break and he jinked his way through the defense.

But Ghana's shaky defense is less reliable than its lethal strikers, and Kim headed South Korea back into the game in the 82nd.
