The Games aimed at fostering unity on the African Continent brought together 35 participating Universities from 9 countries. Thus, South Africa, Ghana, Uganda, Botswana, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Senegal, Burkina Faso and Zambia.

The participating schools competed in Basket Ball, football, Tennis, Volleyball, Netball, Badminton, Chess and Athletics.

The University of Education, in the overall institutional ranking , placed 5th after winning 6 gold medals, two silver medals and 2 bronze medals.

The impressive performance of the University at this year’s Games in South Africa is attributable to the commitment of the school's administration to develop its sports infrastructure by committing huge resources to renovating its basket ball court, football field, hockey pitch and other sporting fields on the various campuses of the university.

These sporting facilities have facilitated the training of sportsmen and women of the University and have contributed enormously to their performances in this year's All Africa Games.

Despite this massive success, support from corporate organisations and government are anticipated to ensure total completion of the sporting infrastructural development on the campuses of the University of Education.

Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) and University of Johannesburg, all in South Africa took the 1st and 2nd Positions whiles Ndejje University of Uganda and University of the Western Cape in South Africa emerged 3rd and 4th respectively.
