US Olympic gold medalist Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has attributed her triumph at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games to her strong relationship with God.

She emphasized that whenever she competes, she asks God to use her as a vessel to demonstrate His glory.

McLaughlin highlighted that she credits her victory in the 400-meter hurdles final and her world record-breaking performance to God's positive influence in her life.

"I credit everything I do to God. He has given me a gift and the drive to continually improve myself. I have a platform, and I want to use it to glorify Him. Whenever I step on the track, my prayer is always, 'God, let me be the vessel through which You are glorified.'

"Regardless of the outcome, how I conduct myself and carry myself is a reflection of His praise through me. That's why I do what I do. I credit everything to God," she said during a press conference after the race on August 8, 2024.

McLaughlin-Levrone set a new world record and won the gold medal in the 400-meter hurdles final, repeating her victory from Tokyo.

American Anna Cockrell secured the silver, while world champion Femke Bol of the Netherlands took the bronze.

McLaughlin-Levrone completed the race in 50.37 seconds, surpassing her previous world record of 50.65 seconds set in June at the US Olympic trials. This marked the sixth time she had set the world record for the 400-meter hurdles.
