A young philanthropist, Rahman Zulka, has officially launched his ultramodern Zulka Sports Arena in Accra.

The opening ceremony which took place last Saturday at the Zulka Sports Arena located next to the Liberty Stadium in Dansoman was attended by astute political figures, religious leaders, and football stakeholders as well as businessmen.

The Zulka Sports Arena which was commissioned by the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, is undoubtedly the biggest artificial turf in Ghana and can boast of three 15 x 30 football pitches for a seven or eight aside football match. The quality turf can be played under floodlights with a sitting capacity numbering up to one thousand and has a changing room for each team.

In his opening remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of Zulka Sports Arena, Rahman Zulka charged philanthropists in Ghana to create facilities that will enhance education and development.

He passionately said, “We can only unlock the potential of today’s youth only through creating opportunities, this would pave way for this generation and others to come and have an easy platform.”

Zulka emphasized that additional plans are far advanced to add international features to the facility.

Member of Parliament for Ablekuma Central, Ebenezer Nii Narh Nortey was overwhelmed with Zulka’s project and advised other young entrepreneurs and philanthropists to contribute their quota to the development of our nation. He assured community members of completing the road that leads to the facility and urged management to make “maintenance as the hallmark of Zulka Sports Arena.”

Although Dansoman is a water prone area, the Mayor of Accra, Mohammed Nii Adei Sowah “pledged to ensure that all the drains that are supposed to be constructed will be completed, but please if you’ve built on where the water would pass then please give way.”

The Minister of Inner City & Zongo Development, Boniface Abubakar Saddique, who is spearheading the construction of the state-sponsored standard turf in communities through the ‘One Community One Turf’ project, encouraged that colts football should be revived with the presence of the new turf.

Rahman Zulka in his closing submission told Ghanaians to be ready for more of such projects especially in Dansoman and beyond.
