Upper East Division Two League kicks off March 30

The Upper East Regional Football Association Executive Committee have tentatively fixed the commencement of this year`s regional division two league for 30th March, 2013.

20 teams are set to take part in this year`s league with the teams zoned into four groups of 5 teams each.

The winners of the various groups will make it to the Middle League of round robin games with the winner qualifying to represent the region in the 2013/14 national division one league.

The Upper East Region is the only region in Ghana yet to taste Premiership action and the chairman of the Regional Football Association, Salifu Shaibu Zida told Goal.com Ghana that he is very hopeful that the winner of this year third tier league will go on to bring premiership football to the region next season.

“It’s a pity that we are 52 years old as a region and we can’t even boast of a team that has ever played in the country’s top flight football league,” Mr. Zida said.
