VALCO SSS Tournament: Aggrey College rides on

A goal in each half by Samuel Dadzi and Ahmed Acquah of Aggrey Memorial Collge secured them the three maximum points in their second match of the 6th Valco Senior Secondary School Tournament against Navrongo Secondary School (NAVASS) at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday.

The Aggrey boys who once again started the game on a dominant note wasted numerous chances through skipper Joseph Adjetey, Samuel Dadzie and Yussif Anowboi.

NAVASS, who mostly relied on long passes which on many occasions proved unproductive failed to make use of a golden opportunity in the 16th minute, when Ibrahim Anyasi who had only keeper Mahmud Abdullai to beat shot wide to the surprised of his colleagues and fans at the stadium.

After this, Aggrey stormed the half of NAVASS and got a free kick at the edge of their "18" box. Samuel Dadzie fired a powerful grounder which scaled through the legs of the defence men of NAVASS, before entering the net for the first goal in the 19th minute.

NAVASS struggled to get the equaliser, but their passes were faulty and could not give the attackers the opportunity to score.

Aggrey maintained their level of play in the early parts of the second half, but the Navrongo boys came into the game strongly later on and put pressure on the defending champions.

NAVASS could have got the equaliser, but their skipper Nyaaba Grant wasted the chance in the 42nd minutes.

In the 54th minute, Ocloo Jehovah nearly had a goal but the agile keeper of Aggrey, Mahmud Abdullai saved the situation for his side.

The Navrongo boys continue to waste good chances till the defending champions taught them how to do it in the 76th minute, when Ahmed Acquah curled the ball over keeper Isshayhaku Ma-Awiah for the second goal to end the game.

Aggrey have now got six points and are behind Pope Johns Secondary School on the table who also have six points, but have scored more goals than the boys from Cape Coast.
