VIDEO: David Accam begins training with Chicago Fire

Ghana striker David Accam says he will need a bit more time to settle in at Chicago Fire as he started training with his new club on Saturday.

The 24-year-old linked up with his new teammates in Portland for the first time since completing his move from Swedish club Helsingborg.

Accam’s arrival at Fire was delayed due to his involvement at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations where he only made a cameo appearance in Ghana’s silver-winning feat in Equatorial Guinea.

The young striker has, however joined his club in training on Saturday as they continue with their pre-season preparations in Portland.

The former Right to Dream Academy trainee, however admits he will need a bit more time to settle in.

“So far it’s really good, most of the guys are fantastic, I feel welcomed,” he said.

“It is good to start training with the team and to know the guys, but it will take one or two sessions for me to know the atmosphere.

“In the African Cup, I did not play much, but it was a good experience for me so I am happy to be here and also use this opportunity as a great experience.”
