Hundreds of football fans thronged to the Kotoka International Airport to welcome the silver medalist in the 30th edition of the African Cup of Nations after they lost 8-9 on penalties against Ivory Coast on Sunday.

The Gallant Black Stars team was led by inspirational Captain Asamoah Gyan, who was raised on the shoulders after they touched down at the tarmacs of the International Airport.

Speaking to journalists at airport, Mr Amissah-Arthur was full of praise for Coach Avram Grant and his charges.

“The playing body and the technical team have made all of us proud, we didn’t expect the team to go far and we did.

“The entire nation wants you to keep your head up and cheer up because you were the best among the rest of the team’s, we are glad you didn’t fail but you made a statement for us all to see”.
