Vipers draw with Schalke O4

Cape Coast, April 25 GNA - Abura Odonase Schalke O4 played a determined game to hold Cape Coast Venomous Vipers to a 1-1 draw in a friendly soccer match played at Robert Mensah Sports stadium on Sunday. Schalke O4 matched their opponents boot for boot just after referee, Felix Andoh signalled the two side's into action and managed to maintain composure to end the first half goalless.

Vipers resumed the second half strongly and nearly went ahead in the 55th minute but midfielder, Francis Yankey's goal bound shot hit the cross bar and rebounded into play.

Shalke 04's outside right, Alfred Dadzie, however in the 80th minute scored the opener in a goalmouth melee against the run of play. Vipers who seemed humiliated by the goal from then took command of the game and following persistent pressure on their opponents, a hard-pressed defender, hacked Yankey down in the penalty box.

Referee Andoh rightly awarded a penalty for Vipers and Yankey easily converted the resultant kick in the 88th minute for the face-saving equaliser.
