Vipers hold Wise-Fighters to draw

Cape Coast, Sept. 19, GNA - A 63rd minute penalty taken by Francis Yankey enabled Cape Coast Venomous Vipers to hold Sekondi Wise-Fighters to a 1-1 drawn game in their First Division League match at the Cape Coast sports stadium on Saturday.

After a goalless first half, Wise-Fighters resumed the second half strongly piling on a sustained pressure on Vipers and in the 55th minute they earned a free kick from which midfielder, Daniel Acquaye scored the opener with a thunderbolt shot.

In the 60th minute, Vipers forced the tide in their favour and following series of raids in their opponent's vital goal area, a hard-pressed defender of Wise-Fighters hacked down inside right, Walters Mensah.

Accra based, Class One referee, Jonathan Tettey whistled for a penalty for Yankey to score the much-needed equaliser. In another development Adisadel AOC 95 lost 3-1 to their local rivals Odomankoma in their colts Under 17 league match at the Adisadel Park on Saturday.

Centre half, David Abban, who played a yeoman's game netted twice for Odomankoma in the 10th and 15th minutes with Adisadel's mid fielder, John Manso pulling back a goal before the end of the first half.

Odomankoma who dominated the greater part of the second half increased their tally to 3-1 through substitute Samuel Quayson in the 59th minute. Adisadel AOC also beat Odomankoma 2-0 in the Under 14 category and again beat their Under 12 side 3-0.
