Stephen Appiah happy with Ghana scouting role

Former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah has said he is delighted with plans to rope him in as a scout for the Black Stars ahead of the World Cup.

The ex-Juventus midfielder is being considered to spy on Ghana’s opponents as Brazil 2014 draws near.

Speaking on Metro FM, Appiah said coach Kwesi Appiah is on course with such plans and he will willingly accept that responsibility since it is in the best interest of Ghana.

“Kwesi Appiah called and talked to me on his intention to let me scout for Ghana ahead of the World Cup in June,” the ‘Tornado’ disclosed. “I think it is a great opportunity given me by the head coach and I am grateful for that.”

He added: “When you are given the chance to do what you can do, you make the best out of the opportunity. It is the right call, because when you go to countries like Nigeria they make good use of their former players like Kanu, Okocha, likewise Cameroon making good use of Rigobert Song.”

Ghana have been paired with US, Germany and Portugal at the World Cup.
