WBF Sanctions Ghana

The Ghana boxing authority (GBA) has been suspended indefinitly by the world boxing federation (WBF). This was contained in a letter signed by the ratings director of the WBF, Mr.Jonathan Feld.

The W.B.F decision to sanction Ghana is due to recent disgraceful behaviuor by GBA licensed boxeres Osumanu yahaya and Joshua clottey with regard to W.B.F titles and the boxers breaking of contracts held with the W.B.F events arm world sports organisation. Ghanian boxers therefore have been suspended indefinitly. This remain in force untill the GBA takes disciplinary actions against the two boxers.

Osumanu yahaya and Joshua clottey without any reason failed to turn up for weighing after signing a contract to engage in separate bouts in the United kingdom.

The WBF/GBA relationship has not been the best in recent times. GBA licensed boxers like Braima Kamoka, alias Bukom banku and Joshua okine all have their records underdeclared in the WBF records book. With the GBA's suspension coming less than two weeks after the Ghana Amateur Athletics Association's sanction it can now be said without any fear of contradiction that Ghana sports has embarked on a disastrous journey to the bedrock.
