Wa, (UWR) Nov. 29, GNA - Wa All Stars put up an impressive performance to beat Accra Hearts of Oak by two goals to nil in their Week Eight Glo Premier League match played at the Wa Sports Stadium on Sunday. The All Stars lads outplayed and outwitted Hearts in all departments of the game, making the players look too ordinary to the dislike of their supporters who trooped to the stadium to cheer them up to record an away victory.
The defence of the Phobains failed to hold in check Frank Nortey Sowah and Nathaniel Asamoah, as they allowed them enough room to score in the 18th minute and in the 75th minute respectively to win the three maximum points for the Wa lads who have been struggling to find their feet so far in the league.
Sowah received a cross from the left flank and surveyed the Hearts goal area to hit the ball skilfully into the net to register the first goal of the match.
The home supporters gave a standing ovation for the beauty of the goal and that gingered up the All Stars players to raise the tempo of the game and from then continued to dictate the pace of the game for the greater part of proceedings as they confused the Hearts lads to resort to rough play which nearly marred the beauty of the game.
The home lads could have scored more goals if they were a bid accurate in their attacks during the first half.
Back from the recess, it was still the All Stars lads who came into the more determined to win the game to appease their supporters and also consolidate their position on the league table, as they resorted to short and accurate passes, couples with inter-positional exchanges to the delight of the supporters.
It therefore came as no surprise, when Nathaniel Asamoah outwitted the Hearts defence who looked sloppy before teasing out goalkeeper Philomon McCarthy from his goal post before planting the ball into an empty net to raise All Stars goal tally to two.
Both teams made substitutions to strengthen their attacking machinery, but that did not benefit Hearts even though Torik Djibril brought more bite into the game.
The Upper West Regional Minister, Mr Mahmud Khalid, who had returned from a trip to grace the Kakube Festival of the Chiefs and people of the Nandom Traditional Area, witnessed the second half of the match. He presented 1000 Ghana cedis to the players of All Stars and advised them to be discipline and obey their coaches instructions to help them to become good players for their Club and the country. The President of the Ghana Football Association, Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi who was also around advised the players not be complacent about the win but to put more efforts to win their entire matches to get to top of the league table. 29 Nov. 09
