Mr Seth Panwum, General Manager of Wa All Stars Football Club has indicated the readiness of the club to win the 2017/2018 premier league.
He said: “We will strengthen the potency of the club with new strategic recruitments that will catapult the team to the apex of Ghana football.”
Mr Panwum, who was speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on their performance in the 2016/2017 premier league, regretted their below par performance as the defending champions to the sixth position this year.
He however explained that the exodus of most of their players derailed their plans, but assured that, “we shall definitely bounce back next season.”
He said after winning the premier league in the previous season, key players including, Richard Arthur, Joseph Adjei, Emmanuel Ocran, Ishmael Ganiyu and Kofi Yeboah left the club for greener pastures.
Mr Panwum said contracts of other players were not renewed after expiration, a situation that affected their performance in the league.
“Under the circumstance, we had to make do with the available players, but I can say it was not a bad season after all and we shall improve in the coming season.”
Wa All Stars football club was founded in 2006 and is based in Wa, in the Upper West Regional capital. The team plays its home matches at the 5,000 capacity Wa Sports Stadium.
