Ambidextrous Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso has revealed the Black Stars' intention of finishing Mauritius in the first-half of the 2-0 triumph resulted in a dominated first-half display.

The Black Stars hogged possession in their favour in the opening 45 minutes of the clash at the Stade George V.

But Avram Grant's men failed to convert their dominance into goals as Mauritius ended the first-half with a pulsating 0-0 draw.

Midfielder Mubarak Wakaso, who was shifted to a central midfield partnership with Torino star Afriyie Acquah, revealed Ghana's game plan for the opening half.

"We dominated, and we are happy for the two goals and the qualification. We wanted to kill off the game in the first-half. To kill the animal you have to sever the head," Wakaso said after the game.

Wakaso, 25, played his 44th cap for Ghana in the game.
