Wassa East DCE, Wilson Arthur leads efforts to boost sports development in Western Region

Mr Wilson Arthur, the District Chief Executive for Wassa East in the Western Region, has been appointed as the board chairman for the Western Regional Sports Committee (WRSC).

Mr Arthur who described his appointment as "the game changer" will use his office as the Dean of the MMDCEs to boost local resourcing of District Sports.

According to him, plans are laid down by the government and the NSA to ensure that the repair works at the Sekondi Sports Stadium commences to put the facility into full use.

Mr Arthur who is also the President of Skyy FC promised to institute a sports training school in the stadium and also make sure the Stadium attracts both national and international tournaments as a way of raising revenue to maintain it.

“I will promote the 40-bed hotel facility of the Stadium and align District sports investments and plans to achieve the strategic vision of the region," he said.

Mr Arthur indicated that "Sponsors and Corporate Responsibility Managers of our Corporate Industries will have to renew their confidence in the leadership of WRSC to attract funding and other resources”.

He noted that “Sports talents, administrators and managers must hope and be inspired to work harder, be more committed and disciplined so as to take advantage of new opportunities.”

The CEO of Skyy Media Group assured Sports fans in the region to be expectant of new competitions and tournaments that will enhance the performances of talents in the region.

The board will on Friday, May 31, 2019, at the WRCC Conference Room outline some measures that will ensure that sports Economy of the Region is awakened.
