Ghanaian striker Antoine Semenyo marked his 50th Premier League appearance with a brilliant goal for Bournemouth in their 3-1 win over Southampton on Monday, September 30, 2024.
Semenyo, who had an incredible game, scored a great goal for Bournemouth to seal the victory, having been involved in their first goal.
The Ghanaian striker showed his two-footed brilliance by dribbling with his left to make his way into the Southampton penalty box before unleashing a low drive into the bottom right corner.
Speaking after the game, Semenyo said that he caught the defenders of Southampton off-guard as they were not expecting him to strike from that angle.
“Just tried to create some space and shoot really, and I got enough space, hit it (the ball) hard and low, and it just trickled into the bottom corner, so I’m happy. I caught the defenders off guard with a chop and, like I said, just wanted to create space and get the shot away, and I did, and it went in.”
Semenyo’s form is incredible news for Black Stars coach Otto Addo, who is firming up his squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Ghana and Sudan.
The doubleheader will see Ghana play Sudan on October 11 at a yet-to-be-decided venue and on October 15 in an away fixture.
