Black Stars midfielder Majeed Ashimeru made his first appearance for Anderlecht following his return from an injury sustained late last season.

In the match against St. Truiden, Ashimeru played a significant portion of the game before being substituted in the second half. He made crucial tackles and delivered precise passes that helped the team create dangerous opportunities.

Prior to the start of the season, Ashimeru expressed his gratitude to the club after extending his contract for an additional two years. The Belgium Pro League giants announced that his contract will now run until 2027 following the latest renewal on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old was thrilled to extend his stay after playing with Anderlecht for the past three seasons since joining from Red Bull Salzburg.

"In the last three seasons at RSC Anderlecht, I have grown as a player and as a person. I'm very grateful to both the club and the fans for their continued support over the past years," Ashimeru told the club's official website.

Despite having one year remaining on his existing contract, Ashimeru chose to extend his stay despite interest from other clubs. He joined Anderlecht in 2021 from RB Salzburg for a reported fee of €1.5 million.

His new contract, which secures him until 2027, reflects Anderlecht's commitment to building around his talents. Despite injury setbacks limiting his appearances to 12 last season, Ashimeru has made a significant impact since joining, amassing over 100 appearances and becoming a key player in midfield.

It is expected that the player will stay fit and partake in the upcoming matches for the Black Stars in September 2024.
