Ghanaian forward Osman Bukari scored his first Major League Soccer goal for Austin FC in a decisive 2-0 away victory against Nashville SC on Saturday night.
In the Week 26 fixture at Geodis Park, Austin FC secured a crucial win thanks to a pivotal performance.
Nashville SC had an early chance to take the lead with a penalty kick, but Austin goalkeeper Brad Stuver made a key save, denying Hany Mukhtar’s attempt from the spot.
Austin FC capitalized on a defensive lapse by Nashville in the 43rd minute when Jon Gallagher converted a well-placed cross from Alex Ring.
Bukari sealed the win with his goal in the 83rd minute. The Black Stars attacker took advantage of a turnover by Nashville substitute Amar Sejdić, sprinted past goalkeeper Joe Willis—who had ventured nearly 40 yards out of his goal—and calmly slotted the ball into the empty net.
Bukari, who joined Austin FC from Red Star Belgrade this summer, now has two appearances and one goal to his name in MLS.
