The Black Starlets missed out on a bronze medal at the WAFU Zone B U17 Football Tournament after a defeat to Nigeria in the third-place game on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.

Nigeria's Golden Eaglets beat the Starlets 3-2 to clinch the medal at the expense of the host nation at the University of Ghana Stadium.

Abdulmuiz Adeleke and Imrana Muhammed were on the scoresheet for Nigeria with the former hitting a brace, including a stoppage-time winner.

Harve Gbafa got the consolation goals for Ghana in the disappointing defeat. The Starlets who had a bloomsome start to the tournament ended the competition with a back-to-back defeat.

The Black Starlets, following the defeat, have failed to qualify for the U17 AFCON and subsequently the U-17 FIFA World Cup.
