Ghanaian-born, UK-based light heavyweight boxer, Joshua Buatsi (19-0, 13 KO’s), floored his opponent Willy “The Hutch Train” Hutchinson (18-2, 13 KO’s) twice to win the WBO interim light heavyweight title by way of split decision.

Buatsi's fight took place as an undercard to the Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois heavyweight world title match at Wembley Stadium in London, England.

Hutchinson started the fight strong, earning the first points. However, once Buatsi found his rhythm, he took control of the match.

Buatsi's punches were more precise and impactful, allowing him to accumulate more points as the fight progressed.

In the later rounds, Buatsi managed to knock Hutchinson down in the sixth and ninth rounds, but the referee let the fight continue.

Hutchinson struggled to match Buatsi's intensity and spent most of the fight on the defensive.

To the surprise of many, the judges declared Buatsi the winner in a split decision.

The judges' scores were 113-112 (Hutchinson), 117-108 (Buatsi), and 115-110 (Buatsi).

Buatsi's victory sets him up for a potential world title fight against Artur Beterbiev, who will be facing Dmitry Bivol on October 12, 2024 for the undisputed title.
