Accra Hearts of Oak have denied media reports suggesting that they are on the verge of signing former Ghana Premier League goal king Eric Bekoe to bolster the club’s attacking force ahead of the coming season.
Bekoe, who returned to the country weeks ago after failing to land a deal outside is currently unattached and is said to be on the radar of most of the top premier league sides.
According to the Phobians who crushed out of the just ended GHALCA Six tournament without scoring a single goal, have identified striking as one of the many problems facing the team ahead of the new season and are on the verge of signing at least two proven strikers to augment that role.
However, the former Kumasi Asante Kotoko striker is not one of the strikers the club is looking at. In a chat with Times Sports, Public Relations Officer of the club Kwame Larbi Opare Addo stated that the club is not in talks with the 2007/08 goal king over a possible move to the Oak tree family.
“As far as I am concerned no official of the club has contacted Bekoe for a move to Hearts of Oak, he is not on our book at all.”
“Yes we have a striking problem and there are moves to solve that problem with the purchase of at least two more strikers to join the likes of young Cosmos Dauda, Ibrahim Musa and Foovi Aguidi.”
He noted that the newly constituted strategic committee of the club are working round the clock to make sure that they get the best for the club before the January 20th deadline for player registration.
On whether strikers Selassie Adjei and Kenneth Okoro are still with the club, Mr. Opare Addo revealed that both are recovering from various degrees of injuries and for now, are not part of the team on pre-season but are part of the team’s plan for the upcoming season.
