The Sudanese Football Federation is counting on the professionalism and experience of Ghanaian coach Kwasi Appiah when they face the Black Stars of Ghana in the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Ghana was placed in Group F of the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers draw held in Johannesburg, South Africa, on July 4, 2024.

Ghana will play against Angola, Sudan, and Niger in Group F of the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers.

Two out of the four countries in each group that amass the most points in the qualifiers will make it to the tournament to be hosted in Morocco.

Ghana and Angola qualified together from their group in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.

With Ghana’s group opponent Sudan being coached by former Black Stars player and coach Kwasi Appiah, claims of potential conflict of interest have been made against the coach.

But in an interview with Angel TV, the Legal and Regulatory Officer for the Sudanese Football Federation, Badreldin Ibrahim, admitted to the conflict of interest but expressed confidence in Kwasi Appiah to rise above the situation and show professionalism in the discharge of his duties as Sudan coach.

"The conflict is there, but it is a unique and emotionally charged situation for Kwasi Appiah. Playing against Ghana in the AFCON qualifiers is a test of Coach Kwasi Appiah’s professionalism and his commitment to the Sudanese Football Federation.

"He has very good experience that he can bring to the table, which can be advantageous for us, but it will be proven when we see the results and performance. But the conflict is there," he said.
