We are disappointed in the result - Abanga

Hearts of Oak midfielder Kofi Abanga says he and his colleagues are very disappointed about their 0-1 loss to Ashanti Gold on Sunday.

Speaking to Kumasi-based Garden City Radio after the game, he noted that the team came with the intention of taking all three points but their mission was unexecuted, noting that the team wasn’t all that bad and that they would go back to the drawing board to effect the necessary corrections.

"We’re disappointed because we came to take all three points but that’s football. It involves so many things. We’ll go and make our corrections in order to make amends for our next game. I believe we weren’t that bad and I didn’t like the way the referee handled the game too, but like I said it’s football so we’ll go and make our corrections.’’

Abanga also told Garden City Radio that the playing body failed in their quest to hand their coach David Duncan, who celebrated his birthday on Friday, a proper birthday gift by beating Ashanti Gold.

"We’re also disappointed that we couldn’t give our coach (David Duncan) a better birthday present as we promised."

He added that the Phobians are not interest in the results of rivals Asante Kotoko, noting that the fans should continue praying for the team to bounce back in their subsequent matches.

"No we’re not concerned about the results of any team. We’re rather concentrating on our games. So the fans should continue to pray for us so that we win the next game.”
