President of the African Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), Khaled El-Salhy has expressed his appreciation to Ghana for hosting this year’s World Table Tennis Day.
According to him, the African Table Tennis Federation used this year’s celebration to organise the African Junior and Cadet Championship because it is an important event for the new generation to harness their talents.
The African Youth, Junior and Cadet Championships (AYJCC) that will take place on the 7th of April.
“The main reason behind this is to select players who will represent the African cadet team in the cadet challenge later part of the year, October. This is why we are so happy to be in Accra Ghana this year,” he added.
The World Junior Circuit (WJC) is one of the ITTF junior circuits, where players across the globe amass points to qualify for the end-of-the-year World Junior Finals, while the AYJCC is Africa’s qualifiers for the World Junior Championship as well as a platform to select African team for the World Cadet Challenge.
The last time Ghana hosted a major event in table tennis was in 2004 when Ghana hosted the African Junior and Cadet Championships.
