Former Ghana defender Joe Addo believes that the Black Stars were unlucky with Africa's top national competition during his time with the team.
Addo made his debut with the Black Stars in 1989 and played until 2000. In that period, he scored two times in 44 appearances.
The Black Stars have however failed to win an AFCON trophy since 1982. He played with the likes of Abedi Pele and Tony Yeboah but failed to bring the trophy home.
In his interview on Joy FM, he attributed the failure to luck.
“You have to have a lot of luck to win [AFCON]. We were in two finals but lost both on penalties and that was unlucky. It was not about preparation because we really did that. The local players used to camp in Winneba for a year before the tournament.”
