We knew we will win against FC Copenhagen - Thomas Partey

Atletico Madrid midfielder, Thomas Partey has disclosed that they knew they were going win against FC Copenhagen on Thursday night.

Atletico Madrid travelled to Denmark for the first league of the UEFA Europa League against FC Copenhagen.

The home side took an early lead in the 15th minute through Viktor Fischer.

Diego Simeone's side back into the party with Saúl Ñíguez getting the goal on the 21st to make it 1:1 before Kevin Gameiro made it 2:1 in the 37th minute.

Madrid based club dominated the match in the second half and in the 71st minute, French international, Antoine Griezmann made it 3:1 and on the 77th-minute, midfielder Vitolo sealed the win for Athletico Madrid making it 4:1 in full time.

And Partey who contributed to the victory of his team in Copenhagen was left happy at Parken Stadion.

"We came out very plugged, but it was a good job for the whole team and we are satisfied with the win.

"They started strong, they scored, but we started even better and we knew we were going to come back and the team responded. We are happy.

"It has not affected us, it's cold, but we try to run and so we do not get cold. We went well, we played as we should and in the end it is winning and we have achieved it.

"Before his goal, we had three chances and we did not score. We knew the goal would come.

"Atleti knows how to play, although it also depends on the opponent. When it gets complicated, we look for more in the long run," he added.
