The Vice President of the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA), Dr Silvanus Lamptey, is calling on stakeholders to prioritize training of young athletes at all levels in order to redeem Ghana's image at international competitions.
According to him, Ghana has a lot of talented athletes, however, inadequate funds to support their preparation at the local level has hindered their progress at international competitions.
Speaking to Class Sports in an exclusive interview at the 30th Inter-Regional Schools and Colleges sports festival at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium in the Central region on Wednesday, August 23, Dr Lamptey noted that good policies to convince sponsors to support training of athletes at the grass-root levels will help athletes to achieve great medals.
Recounting the achievements of GAA in recent times, Dr Silvanus says the association has been able to win silver medals at the All African Games.
