Mr Charles Osei Assibey, President of Ghana Armwrestling Federation (GAF) has pleaded for financial support ahead of the upcoming Africa Armwrestling Championship to be hosted by Ghana.
Ghana would host the rest of the continent from July 26 to July 29, at the Hathramani Sports Hall at the Accra Sports Stadium for the championship, which is expected to bring the best Armwrestlers to the country.
Mr Osei Assibey in an interview with the GNA Sports disclosed that even though they had put a lot of plans in place to ensure a successful championship, the Federation is under-resourced and needs more financial support to cover up for some cost.
“We need so much to be able us to host this championship, we are taking care of accommodation for all visiting teams, but we are yet to broker a deal that would take care of that. We are also responsible for team Ghana and they are supposed to camp this weekend and we need money to be able to camp them as well,” he said.
He added that, regardless of the difficult financial situation, they were bent on hosting the championship in Ghana, as some of the facilities as well as other needed equipment were almost ready.
“The venue is ready, we only need to do a few touches and then we would begin to set up the place.”
