Former Hearts of Oak board member Frank Nelson has assured fans that the club will undertake all necessary measures to ensure sustainability, especially after they narrowly escaped relegation from the Ghana Premier League.

Despite a promising start to the 2023/24 season, which led to the dismissal of head coach Martin Koopman, the Phobians encountered significant challenges throughout the campaign.

Assistant coach Abdul Bashiru temporarily took the helm before the club appointed former Asante Kotoko manager Aboubakar Ouattara on a two-and-a-half-year contract. Despite these changes, Hearts of Oak finished the season in 14th place with 45 points, just avoiding relegation thanks to a dramatic 3-2 comeback against Bechem United on the final day.

Addressing the club’s precarious situation, Frank Nelson expressed optimism and the need for strategic measures to prevent a recurrence.

"The management must review their technical reports and everything," he said in an interview with Citi Sports.

"We will not allow Accra Hearts of Oak to decline. We will do everything in our power to ensure that Hearts of Oak remains a sustainable entity," Nelson affirmed.
