Liberia and African soccer legend, George Oppong Weah may not be contemplating having his sex altered, but he has already accepted to be part of the all female national Women's Soccer Team, the Black Queens in a match against a select side of the national Under-23 team, the Black Meteors, on Thursday.
The match, slated for the Accra stadium at 4pm is to serve the two purposes of helping raise funds for the preparation of the Black Queens towards the impending World Cup and also help the team get match fit.
Yesterday Oppong Weah, already in the country, confirmed to the Soccer Express that he would be wearing the same jersey and lining up to do battle alongside the ladies. Queens management committee chairman, Sylvester Mensah also confirmed that apart from Weah, two great stars he did not name would also feature for the Queens.
The Queens, who have been busy all week, continue with several other matches in their build-ups. They were in Denu yesterday to play a select side, after white washing Koforidua Ghatel Ladies 6:0 at the weekend and losing 1:2 to a Ho-based second division male side. They will also play against the University of Cape Coast male team on Saturday, as part of the hall week celebrations of one of the university's halls.
